Artisan Jewelry by Carol Stanyon

Larimar (blue pectolite) is a beautiful and rare stone, with a striking blend of shades of blue, reflecting the Carribbean Sea.  It is only mined in a remote area of the Dominican Republic, and it is not known how long this stone will be available.  It was named by Miguel Mendez in 1974, after his daughter, Larissa, and "Mar", the Spanish word for sea.

Larimar is believed by some to be a healing stone, promoting serenity and peace.  I enjoy using this wonderful stone in my art jewelry.
